Foster + Partners: Vieux Port Pavilion, Marseille - “A simple intervention on a french quayside, Foster + Partners newly inaugurated  ‘Port Vieux’ pavilion is a literal reflection of the idyllic surrounding wharf. The 46 by 22 meter canopy is made of highly polished stainless steel such that it reflects the inverted pedestrian area and harbor at the water’s edge.”

Everything - A perfume by Lernert & Sander, consisting of all fragrances launched in 2012. Over the last year Lernert & Sander collected almost 1400 samples of newly launched fragrances. By mixing the content of all of these bottles, they created 1.5 liter of Everything. This unique perfume comes in a specially designed and hand blown bottle. “François-Xavier Lalanne introduced his iconic Moutons de Laine’, Un Troupeau de 24 Moutons at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture in Paris, 1965, where they immediately attracted international attention. Lalanne placed his first flock of 24 sheep at the exhibition’s entrance, documented by a notable photograph of artists and critics at the Salon lounging atop the docile ewes. By 1967, the sheep, which were to become one of François-Xavier’s best known works, had been pictured in Parisian interiors in Life magazine, and would soon be found in the collections of Yves Saint Laurent and other impresarios, collectors and cultural figures.”

Sosno + Rytis Daukantas: Sosno Art Gallery Building - “French sculptor Sosno and Lithuanian Architect Rytis Daukantas have collaborated to create the ‘Sosno Art Gallery Building’, a large scale adaption which transforms the ‘La Paille Dans L’œil Du Voisin’ sculpture into a habitable space for the city of Nice, France. the 22 meter tall structure will contain 600 square meters of program arranged within six unique floor plates. The concealed core positioned within the head and shoulders contains a framework to stabilize the cantilevered wings illustrating the wooden beam which intersects the face of the bust.”

French Producer DJ Mehdi Dies Aged 34

DJ Mehdi one of France’s leading hip hop artists/producers is dead. DJ Mehdi (Mehdi Favéris-Essad) best known for his track I Am Somebody, collaborated with artists such as Chromeo, Kid Cudi, MC Solaar, Daft Punk, Kourtrajme, Akhenaton, Cassius, Versatile, Super Discount, Asian Dub Foundaton, K-os, Futura2000, Ryuichi Sakamoto and more. According to news reports, the DJ and producer was celebrating fellow artist Riton’s birthday on his Paris rooftop when the structure collapsed everyone except Riton fell through. DJ Mehdi died and three others were hospitalized. DJ Mehdi is survived by his wife, the French model and artist Fafi.
