Photographs from the Sydney Police Department - Sydney Police department mugshots dated from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Non-traditional mugshot photographs of detainees that were apprehended for suspicious activity, subjects were encouraged to compose themselves in hopes of revealing idiosyncrasies. The entire Justice & Police system archive (1900’s - 1960’s) including mugshots, evidence and crime scene photos can be found at the Sydney Historic Houses and Trust site.
