Apple's designer Jonathan Ive Knighted

“Ive received a KBE, (Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) and will be able to be called “sir”. While most KBE’s earn the title by bringing huge amounts of cash to Britain, Sir Ive got it for services to design and enterprise. It must be the first time that anyone has been knighted for making an American look good and making him bundles of  amounts of cash.”

Talk About Cover Flow. Apple’s new Beatles on iTunes commercial is pretty damn great.

iPhone 4S Review Round-Up: The best of these reviews I suppose, would be by Mr. Stephen Fry. Also, New iPhone Conceals Sheer Magic (I hate when they do this, because it makes me want to buy a new iPhone and I don’t NEED a new one, damn it.) Apple’s Siri Is as Revolutionary as the Mac. Grrr… (yes that is a segment of an old film poster, Klute).

Wall Street Still Doesn't Understand Apple

With Q4 earnings due next week, the pros and the bloggers are $3.9 billion apart, striking disparity indeed; I understand consistency, but why are so many below the fold?

Steven P. Jobs, the visionary co-founder and former chief executive of Apple, has died at 56. “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

The Job (Steve) Jobs Did

“When the Macintosh was introduced, Steve Jobs became something of a pariah in the graphic design world. Apple ran a TV commercial that introduced the world to graphic designers, and in the next breath said that, because of the Macintosh, they were obsolete. Designers were so miffed, as I recall, that they denied Apple a design leadership award by the Art Directors Club for a few years thereafter. Like elephants, graphic designers’ trunks are filled with memories. But Jobs redeemed himself.” ( a run down of comments from famous designers and artists on Jobs’ contributions).

Rare Apple Computer Sells for $210,700 - As mentioned previously, an Apple-1, one of only about 200 such machines built in Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ parents’ garage, sold at Christie’s auction house in London yesterday for 133,250 pounds (about $210,700). The winning bidder was Italian businessman, private collector and Apple ultimate fanboy Marco Boglion, who made his offer over the phone.

Turn an iPod into an iPhone

“For a little $1 iPhone app… Line2 turns the iPhone into a dual-mode phone. That is, it can make and receive calls either using the AT&T airwaves as usual, or — now this is the best part — over the Internet. Any time you’re in a wireless hot spot…also runs on the iPod Touch.”

HDR Photos in the Next iPhone Update

“HDR, an automated processing feature aiming to deliver a “dummy-proof” photography method, will be included with the camera app on all iPhones running iOS 4.1 when it ships next week. When you take a picture, HDR processes three versions of the image: an underexposed version, a normally exposed version, and an overexposed version. Then it combines these three images into one to increase the dynamic range (the intensity of the light) to give you a more accurate representation of the scene you’re shooting.”
